Usage
Every April, the flowering of the Taif rose turns the mountainous uplands near Taif pink. Before dawn, pickers harvest the blooms. Time is of the essence because as the sun rises the oils gradually evaporate from the unpicked flowers. From these family-owned farms the flowers are taken to local distilleries. Using crafts practiced throughout the centuries, the precious attar of rose and fragrant rose water are created. Rose water has a time-honoured place in Arabic festivities and at the end of wedding feasts is sprinkled on the faces of guests. In the home a rose water sprinkler is a symbol of hospitality and affluence.
